Robert Bailey
Executive Partner
Mr. Bailey is a currently an independent consultant in telecommunications, and the CTO of OnCell Systems. Recently he was the Chief Deployment and Chief Technology officer for Current Communications a provider of infrastructure and IP telecommunication services for the Broadband over Power Line industry. At Current Mr. Bailey was responsible for the Design, Engineering, Construction, and Operation of all installed and installing BPL (Broadband over Power Line) systems.
Prior to joining Current Communications Mr. Bailey was a Senior Vice President at Choice One Communications, a CLEC providing integrated voice, data and internet services in 12 states. At Choice One he was responsible for the engineering, construction, operation, carrier relations, and network costs of the Choice One network. The network consisted of 25 Switching Centers and 505 Collocations, providing service to over 100,000 customers with over 550,000 voice and data lines in service. Prior to Choice One Mr. Bailey was Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Upstate Cellular Network d.b.a. Frontier Cellular, a joint venture of Verizon Wireless and Frontier Corporation. Mr. Bailey was responsible for engineering and operations of Frontier Cellular’s network covering 5.5 million POPs, and 435,000 customers in upstate New York. Mr. Bailey held a number of positions at Frontier Corp. prior to leaving Frontier in 1996, where he was Vice President of Strategic Technologies. Prior to that Mr. Bailey was President of Frontier Cellular, where he was instrumental in creating the Upstate Cellular Network. Prior to that he was President of Frontier Network Systems, and President of Frontier’s Long Distance Network. Mr. Bailey has also held a number of senior positions in Operations and Engineering at Rochester Telephone’s regulated business prior to entering the deregulated business units in 1985.
Mr. Bailey is a past member of the Board of Directors of CTIA, and past chairmen of CTIA’s Technology Committee. He has served on the Board of Directors of Call Net a public Canadian Long Distance company prior to its acquisition by Sprint, the Board of Directors of Intellivoice prior to its acquisition by Premier Technologies, and on the technology boards of Winphoria, prior to its acquisition by Motorola, WebTone Technologies prior to its acquisition by Fidelity Information Systems and Paradyne prior to its acquisition by Zhone Technologies
