Anthony
Cassara
President
Cassara Management Group, Inc.
Anthony Cassara has
30 years of management experience in the telecommunications industry.
He is currently the President of Cassara Management Group, Inc.
(CMGI), a privately held business counseling practice focused on the
telecommunications industry. CMGI specializes in business evaluations,
management recruitment & development, organizational change strategies
and creating strategic business growth opportunities for telecommunications
companies.
Prior to founding CMGI, Mr. Cassara was President of the
Carrier Services division at Frontier Corporation and later at Global Crossing.
With worldwide responsibility for this $2 billion operating unit, he directed
the wholesale carrier business on a global basis. He was responsible for
evaluating the organization's market entry strategies and building an
operating infrastructure across the five operating regions around the world,
covering North America, Europe, South America, Latin America and Asia.
In an interim position, Mr. Cassara served as President, CEO
and Vice Chairman for Pangea Ltd., a private telecommunications carrier with
a 4,500 mile fiber optic network in northern Europe.
During his 16 years with Frontier and Global Crossing, Mr.
Cassara held many executive positions in various domestic and international
business units. These included being the President of the United Kingdom operation, as well
as President of Rochester Telephone Corporation. Under Mr. Cassara's
leadership, Rochester Telephone became the first incumbent local carrier in
the United States
to open its market for local competition, a year ahead of the 1996
Telecommunications Act.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of ACN (a privately held
telecommunications company operating in North America, Europe and Australia),
deltathree, Inc. (DDDC.OB),
and WorldGate Communications, Inc.
(WGAT.OB).
He has recently served on the Board of Directors of Mpower
Communications (a publicly held CLEC), CIMCO Communications
(a privately held CLEC) Board of Advisors,
Teleglobe
International,
InSciTek
(a
privately held start-up IP technology venture), FLAG (a publicly held global telecom carrier) which was sold to
Reliance Infocomm Ltd of India, Eschelon
Telecom (a privately held CLEC), The School of the Holy Childhood (a
private school for children with special needs) and Sixteen:Fifteen (a
non-profit organization). In addition, he has served
as Chairman of the Board for CompTel (a telecommunications industry trade
organization) and has served on the Board of Directors for the Rochester, NY
chapter of the American Red Cross.
Mr. Cassara earned a bachelor's degree in business
administration from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh,
and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in
finance from Boston
College. He lives in Rochester, NY
with his wife Carol and family.
